Messer: Gases & Gas Application Technologies for Aluminum
Minimizing Costs and Emissions; Magnifying Productivity and Profits
Messer is the largest privately held industrial gas business in the world, and a leading industrial and medical gas company in North and South America. Messer backs more than 120 years of experience across multiple industries and deep expertise with an extensive gas distribution network and top-notch technical support.
Based in Bridgewater, NJ, our aluminum industry team helps producers maximize productivity and profits while reducing emissions, fuel costs and carbon footprint. Our gas expertise includes aluminum melting/remelting, forming, extrusions, sheet, equipment and more.
Our proprietary OXIPYR™ solutions replace incombustible nitrogen (associated with air-fuel combustion) with pure, combustive oxygen, which triggers a dramatic increase in combustion efficiency and these production benefits:
- Up to 100% increase in melting rates
- Up to 50% reduction in fuel costs
- Up to 50% increase in overall throughput
- More even heat distribution with fewer hot spots
The environmental benefits are huge, too.
- Up to 90% reduction in emissions
- 50% reduction in carbon footprint
Product Information:
New Oxyfuel Burners Can Boost Remelt Productivity up to 30% or More
Messer’s new OXIPYRTM oxyfuel burners for “flameless” and “semi-flameless” combustion may substantially boost the productivity of aluminum remelt furnaces, with some users experiencing gains of up to 30% or more. They are also designed to give secondary aluminum processors flexibility to respond to market conditions and better manage profitability.
The OXIPYR burners allows flexibility with the oxygen enrichment level for combustion to be fully adjusted from 0% to 100% oxygen for “flameless” combustion and highly radiant heating. This flexibility allows the operations to optimize the melting costs. When throughput is paramount, as in many closed-loop recycling operations, firing at or near 100% POP can maximize furnace productivity.
Messer also offers gases and expertise for metal heat treatment, additive manufacturing and post processing. For more information, contact Messer (www.messer-us.com) 800-755-9277.
